In my normal quest to find organizations that benefit the military and service families, I don’t think I’ve ever donated to the DAV—the Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust. This charity rates a 100%, 4-star rating from Charity Navigator. The DAV Charitable Service Trust is: “dedicated to one, single purpose: empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. To carry out this responsibility, the DAV Charitable Service Trust supports physical and psychological rehabilitation programs; enhances research and mobility for veterans with amputations and spinal cord injuries; benefits aging veterans; aids and shelters homeless veterans; and evaluates and addresses the needs of veterans wounded in recent wars and conflicts. For those of every era, the Trust also supports programs that benefit the caregivers and families of ill and injured veterans.”

Please comment! For each comment I will donate to this worthy organization.

Desire Me Again

Blurb:
The hopeless romantic believes that a soulmate exists for each of us. That there is one person who makes us feel how good it is to love them. For some couples, things trigger them to push that love away. They find out too late they’ve lost true-love. Sometimes genuine love deserves a second-chance at the happy ending that eluded them the first time.

Desire Me Again is an eclectic assortment of short stories exploring a second-chance at love. The collection is as diverse as the authors who wrote them. Here’s a chance to read the work of talented writers you may not have read before. Within these pages, there are blends of tender, often moving and thought-provoking stories.

Excerpt:
From Second Chance:

“Tom,” Mrs. Henderson exclaimed. Like everyone he knew in their town, she stretched the one-syllable word into two. Tah-um. Until he’d joined the Corps he didn’t really know what people meant when they talked about southern accents. Now he considered the soft consonants and extended vowels charming. Part of being home.

Glancing over her shoulder, Tom saw Sandy stick her head around the kitchen wall. “Hey,” he called out to her. Then concentrating on her mother, he held out a bouquet. “These are for you, Mrs. Henderson.”

She flushed like a schoolgirl when she took the flowers. “How did you know that tulips are my favorite?”

He hadn’t.  He’d asked the florist to put together something cheerful that an older lady might like. He hoped the brightly colored blooms might bring a smile to Sandy, too.

“Just a guess,” he answered.

“Come in, come in,” Mrs. Henderson backed up and held the door wide.

He stepped into a living room that had seen very little change in the last two decades. It was neat but held a slight whiff of shabbiness. Mrs. Henderson would probably call it comfortable rather than shabby. Tom wondered what Sandy thought of it.

Finally, the woman in question emerged from the kitchen, wiping her hands on a dishtowel. The night was warm and she looked as though she’d just finished doing dishes. Her hair was damp and stuck to her forehead, and a light sheen of sweat clung to her cheeks. His groin tightened when he noticed that her shorts hugged her hips and her sleeveless blouse was slightly dampened, too, showing her white bra through the thin fabric. His mind filled with ways he could make her body slick with sweat, the ways he could make her much more than warm.

“I know I said we should try to get together before I leave, but I didn’t actually mean tonight.”

“I’m sorry to barge in, but I wanted to ask you to dinner tomorrow night.” Before Sandy could form “No, thank you,” as her lips where shaping up to do, he interjected, “And your mom, too.”

Her mother’s eyes widened and she slapped the hand holding the tulips to her chest. “Oh, my! Sandra, we have a beau!”

Sandy smiled. Then she turned to him. “I don’t know. We have so much to do here.”

“Sandra, please. It will be so much fun. I haven’t had dinner out since your father last took me, and that’s been…at least three years.” She turned to Tom. “Could we go to that cafeteria up on the highway?”

Tom laughed. “We can go anywhere you want.”

Mrs. Henderson snapped her head back toward Sandy. He knew the minute Sandy gave in. Her shoulders slumped slightly, but she smiled at her mother. “If Tom is willing to make every other man in town jealous by escorting the lovely Henderson women out to dinner, who am I to stand in his way?”

Imagine being an American trapped in a war-torn country and fearing there is no way out. Now imagine there is a way out. With so many Americans in Israel and Gaza looking for an escape, I am focusing this month on Special Operations Association of America. SOAA is “a voice for special operations,” and one of their current missions is to evacuate Americans from areas of the Middle East currently in conflict. “We advocate for all past, present, and future members of the Special Operations community and their families. Fighting for those who fight for us to ensure the mission success and lethality of those that bear the greater burden.” In today’s environment, SOAA is working to rescue Americans from where “…the fighting and terrorist regimes are causing havoc in the region of Israel, Palestine, the Gaza Strip and surrounding areas.” Please comment and help me support the SOAA. Thank you!

Excerpt:
“What do you mean I’m being cut?” Dr. Margaret Amis-Hollings, professor of women’s studies in the sociology department at Hardis College, shot out of her chair and stared at the dean, Sally Smith, who remained seated.

“Calm down, Margaret.”

“Calm down? Calm down? You just told me that I’ve lost my job.” Pacing, she raked her hand through the tangle of auburn hair that never seemed to stay contained in barrettes. A million things went through her mind, not the least of which was how she would make her rent, her car payment, buy food.

“Oh my God, how am I going to live?” Collapsing in the chair she’d just vaulted out of, she turned to face her friend and boss. Her expression was half despair, half anger, all shock.

“I’m so sorry, Margaret. The board has ordered more budget cuts. It hasn’t been easy. You know how we’ve had to scrimp for the past few years. Now we even have to cull courses we think aren’t serving the full interests of the students.”

“But—but…” Tears choking her throat, she couldn’t at first finish her sentence. “But the women’s studies classes? They’re vital.”

In fact, she had thought the reason for meeting with Sally was to discuss the addition of a new offering: Women Villains. She’d been so proud of the catchy and intriguing title and even had the hook for the course description. “What makes ‘Jane the Ripper,’ and how do her contributing factors differ from Jack’s?” She’d anticipated sharing the materials she’d already prepared, and hearing Sally’s happy response when she revealed the number of students who’d already indicated an interest.

She’d planned for questions of course, but anticipated support and excitement from Sally. The last thing she imagined was being let go.

When the tots were crispy and golden, Diego layered on the toppings: shredded extra-sharp Tillamook cheddar, crumbled pepper bacon, paper-thin slices of green onion, sauteed garlic mushrooms, pickled sweet-hot pepper slices, sour cream, and a drizzle of his house-made spicy ketchup. Heart attack on a plate. He hoped Charlie’s sister was hungry. Was she as pretty as Charlie?

He smoothed his apron and blotted his sweaty forehead. “I’m just gonna deliver these.”

At the bar, he found bartenders Kiara and River, along with all three servers, huddled around a brunette knockout in a curve-skimming red dress.

She glanced up. Their gazes met and held. Everything else slowed down.

Those last few steps to the bar felt like being towed through honey. Her espresso-dark eyes widened, sparkling under the Christmas lights. Her plump lips parted. Her chest rose and fell.

She’s a goddess.

He set the container of tots before her, removed his cap, and scrubbed a hand through his squashed hair. She echoed the gesture, winding a chestnut curl around her slender fingers.

Abuelita had told him the story of when she and Abuelo first met. “It was like a golden rope wrapped around my heart and pulled me to him. It holds us together still.”

At the time, he’d laughed off her hyperbole. But now, in this electric moment, Diego understood exactly what she meant.

“Hi.” The angel murmured, her voice low and musical, like a cello. “Did you make these?”

Dumbstruck by her beauty, he could only nod.

She lifted a tot to her lips, inhaled the steam rolling off it, and sighed.

He thanked the kitchen gods for the apron hiding his erection.

She took a bite, then her head lolled back on a groan. “Soooo good.”

Charlie narrowed her eyes and moved closer to her sister, bristling with protective vibes. He’d do the same if someone was eyeing his little sister like a tasty snack.

Say something, idiot! He cleared his throat. “They go really well with the Port Angeles Amber.” He hooked a thumb over his shoulder toward the beer taps.

Delicious Heat by Sadira StoneHer gaze dropped, and the corner of her mouth hitched up in a shy half-smile. “Wish I could try it, but I’m pregnant.”

No ring on her left hand, but a pale indentation where one had recently been. Divorced? Please let her be single. Please, please, please.

“Oh. Well then, enjoy, Miss…”

“Anna.” Though it didn’t seem possible, her wide smile made her even more beautiful.

Flushed and breathless, he backed toward the kitchen and bonked into something soft.

“Watch where you’re going, Romeo.” With a chuckle, Dawn grasped his shoulders, spun him around, and sent him on his way with a gentle shove.

What are you doing? his common sense shrieked. She’s pregnant! But he allowed himself a final glance over his shoulder. She popped another tot into her lush mouth and winked. He waggled his fingers and pushed through the swinging doors, then collapsed against the wall, clutching his heart.

“Whatsa matter with you?” Shelby asked with a snort.

He closed his eyes and heaved a happy sigh. “I just met the woman I’m going to marry.”

Internet research and The Last Dragon: Daryl Devore

Welcome, Daryl! i’m almost finished reading The Last Dragon now–review to follow! (Love the cover!)

Happy birthday, The Last Dragon!

The Last Dragon by Daryl Devore

Internet Research – A writer’s friend and worst enemy

Silly me, I decide to write a medieval fantasy romance. *shakes head* What do I know about medieval times? No cell phones. There were knights. Damsel in distress needing saving. And they spoke a different form of English than we do. Cuz, like, ya know – English changes.

Why is Internet research a writer’s friend? What ever the question is, the answer is at our fingertips. No having to go to the library and dig through the reference section. Although being the daughter of a retired librarian, I will confess, I love libraries and all those books. But being able to get the information on my laptop and not having to get dressed and brush my hair to go out to the library, is a great delight and time saver.

Why is Internet research a writer’s worst enemy? A deep dark rabbit hole. I’ll just look up – clothes in medieval times. Which led me to food in medieval times. Which led me to castles in medieval times. Which led me to — sanitary practises in medieval times. Ewww. I have still not gotten over the repulsion of that research.

Times may be difficult right now, but flush plumbing and deodorant are a blessing!

In my next book, which is also a medieval fantasy romance, I am torn between being truthful about the actual conditions the people lived in or sticking with Hollywood’s version. And… believe me when I say – the Hollywood version is winning!

Snippet
She sniffed as she neared the berries, but could not catch their sweet scent. Her mood slipped. Not a red fruit anywhere. A crow sat atop a nearby tree and cawed.

“Ye couldn’t have left just a few?” Derry waved her basket at it. “Those were probably the last berries of the season.” The black bird tilted its head and screeched again. ‘Tis not to be my lucky day. A patch full of sweet fruit gone and a handsome man stolen by Ailith and Isa. Best to attend to breakfast. She turned and followed the path back to the cottage.

After milking the cow and leading her and her calf to the small pasture, Derry carried the bucket into the cottage and placed it by the trestle table. She picked up two wooden mugs, bowls and spoons and placed them on the table. She poured a handful of nuts and dried fruit into the bowls and reached for the clay jar filled with honey. After drizzling the amber liquid over the nuts, she placed the jar back on the shelf and filled the mugs with warm milk.

Wrapped in her woollen shawl, the old woman entered and sat. “Ye were gone when I awoke.”

Derry did not know why she lived with this woman. She was not kin to her, but as it seemed like it had always been this way. She did not question.

“I went to pick berries up at the little patch on the hill.” Derry untied her headscarf and placed it on the table. “But the birds had a feast before us. Did ye sleep well?” Derry settled on her stool and lifted her spoon.

The woman nodded.

“On my way to the patch I found a man. He was hurt. His aura was golden. I mended him. Not like those covered in the darkness.” She licked a bit of honey off her spoon. The sweetness filled her mouth.

“Then ye must eat.” The woman patted her arm. “Ye must also rest.”

“When I have finished.” Lost in her thoughts, Derry munched a mouthful of honey covered nuts. He was delightfully handsome. Large muscles on his arms. A broad chest and a fine chin. But now he is in the hands of Ailith and Isa. Will I ever find a husband?

With the meal over, Derry rinsed the dishes with water from a bowl then returned to their little sleeping area. She fluffed the straw mattress, tossed in a handful of wormwood leaves to ward off pests and settled down. Closing her eyes, she released a silent prayer. Please don’t let the blackness haunt me. Allow me to rest. Fill my dreams with visions of the fallen man. Not the icy blackness which scares me so.

What do dragons, knights and romance have in common? GrabThe Last Dragon by Daryl Devore a copy of multi-published author Daryl Devore’s medieval fantasy romance – The Last Dragon and discover the answer.

A sorcerer craving dominance merged with a dragon, the power overwhelmed him causing him to split into three dragons. Demora ruled thought, but was lost in time. Yidithe offered protection, shining like the light of the sun. Ayrradex craved chaos, revelling in destroying souls.

Many knights died, attempting to slay the devil beast. One knight, Prince Hawkyns, did not fear death. He’d lost everything. Away on a mission when Ayrradex attacked his father’s kingdom, Penrythe, Hawkyns returned to find his noble father – feeble and defeated. His wise mother – crazed. His beautiful wife and unborn child – dead. Only a pile of ashes remained for him to bury. He knelt before his King and vowed to slay the devil-beast or be slain.

Derry was born with powers that terrified her parents. They delivered her to a nunnery to be raised in secret. Jathe, a wise sorceress, discovered the young girl and trained her to one day use the secret hidden in her soul.

Legends spoken around campfires hinted the sole way to destroy Ayrradex was when the hearts of a knight and a golden dragon became one. But after a vicious battle with Ayrradex, the golden dragon was thought to be dead.

Can Prince Hawkyns’s bravery and Derry’s powers end the reign of the devil-beast’s terror?

Writing: Don Quixote or J.R. Ewing? #MFRWauthor

The question this week is whether characters are more fun as idealists or pragmatists. You know, do you prefer to write (or read) those characters who always strive for the vision and tilt at windmills, perhaps, or characters who see tings as they really are—and who maybe take advantage of that realism, as J.R. did. I think the answer is, too much of anything can be, well, too much.

Especially in romance, I think having characters who The Cinderella Curse by Dee S. Knightdream a little bit are necessary. In my newly (re)published erotic romance The Cinderella Curse, heroine Charlotte dreams of meeting and capturing her Prince Charming, the head of her publishing firm. He’s somewhat out of her league in that he’s rich, influential, and worldly. And she’s…not. But still, she sees her goal and simply won’t accept that she can’t have him. We all know what happened to Cinderella when she made her wish and then made it to the ball: Katy bar the door!

In the same book, hero Cooper knows the man Charlotte has set her sights on, and he’s pretty sure he’s not the right man for Charlotte. But in his own practical way, he hesitantly helps her map a path to her goal, all while counseling, aiding, and reminding her of what life can be like when she keeps her feet on the ground and head out of the clouds. Together they make quite a pair. But did I enjoy writing one more than the other? No. Did I hear from readers who said they liked reading one more than the others? Well, yeah, kinda. Readers loved Cooper (me, too!) but that’s because I made him yummy, not because he was a pragmatist.

Cinderella ball gownWould I have enjoyed these two if I had written them too strongly in one direction or another? No. Charlotte had to have some common sense and Cooper some flexibility in order for them to be fun and realistic. A good book is composed of characters of both stripes. That can create good conflict and fun reading, no matter which type of character you tend towards.

Do you have a preference? If so, which is it?

Into his cut and dried life of moral and upright behavior, comes Eve Star, formerly one of Europe’s foremost exotic dancers. Her life is anything but cut and dried, black and white. MFRW Book HooksExcerpt:
Jonah’s frown disappeared. Nothing bothered him for long. “You know, it’s pretty up here in the fall.”

“Yes, isn’t it? You came at the perfect time, too. Good thing you can stay with me. During foliage, when the leaves are turning, you can’t get a hotel room from here to Connecticut.”

“Oh, I can’t stay, Daniel. In fact, right after dinner I have to make the train to Boston so I can catch the six a.m. flight back to Charleston.”

Daniel stopped and spun toward his brother in amazement. “What? Jonah, your note didn’t say you’d only be here a couple of hours. I would have made arrangements for someone to take my classes. We could have had more time. Jesus, it’s been two or three years since we’ve seen each other.”

With a concerted effort, he refrained from raking his hand through his hair, a nervous habit from childhood it had taken him years to break. His near relapse must be due to the emotion he felt seeing Jonah again. If it was true that a special bond existed between twins, then an even stronger tie bound the set of rare, identical triplets. And while he, Mark, and Jonah had gone their separate ways since high school—almost twenty years ago—he always felt incomplete, as though a small piece of him was missing when they weren’t in contact. Being with Jonah now made him realize how alone he was. Not for companionship, but for someone who understood the soul of him, without words or judgments or questions. No one did that but his brothers.

Jonah laid his hand on Daniel’s arm. “I know. I feel the same.” Their telepathic communication always surprised, and in some cases frightened, friends and relatives. But Jonah and Daniel took it as a matter of course.

They began walking again.

“What do you hear from Mark?” Daniel asked.

“Nothing much.” Jonah frowned. “Why don’t we stay in better touch?”

“Because we’re guys? I don’t know.”

“Well, as far as I know, Mark is still in Richmond, being a nerd.” Jonah flicked a leaf that had drifted into his hair to the ground.

“Still with that same finance company?”

“Hell, you probably know as much as I do. But gossiping about Mark is not why I came up. I came up to deliver a message. It’s something I didn’t think you should hear over the phone. It’s about mom and dad.”

Daniel stopped again and grabbed Jonah’s arm to halt his progress. “Oh, my God! They’re not—”

“No, sorry, no. Nothing like that.”

Daniel blew a breath of relief. “Then what could be so important you’d fly all the way to New Hampshire to tell me?”

Jonah grinned. “Well, Daniel, it’s like this.” He pulled himself to his impressive full six feet two inches, clasped his hands in prayer and recited, “Friends, we are gathered here in the presence of God and this company, to witness—”

What!?

“Yeah! Isn’t it great? This November we can give thanks that our parents are finally getting married.”

Jonah, the idiot, grinned even wider, like a puppy who’d just been tossed a big old steak bone. Obviously, he didn’t understand the gravity of the situation.

“And they’re not keeping it quiet, either. Nope, they’re doing it up right. Turns out, one of the men who knew mom from her days in show business—”

Daniel closed his eyes. “She was a stripper, Jonah, not a movie star.”

Jonah flapped his hand. “Whatever. Anyway, he’s arranged for them to use the country club. And you know dad’s old friends at the bank never held his troubles against him—

“His troubles? He stole money, Jonah. It was only because the bank president liked dad and the money was returned that he didn’t spend hard time in federal prison.”

Jonah put a hand on his shoulder, thinking to calm him, no doubt. Too late for that.

“I know. But the fact remains, Dad’s well-liked, so they’ve got a big bachelor party planned.”

The groan he heard had to have come from him. His brother was having too much fun to make a sound filled with such angst.

“They’ve scheduled the whole shebang for over the Thanksgiving holidays. I don’t have to work and you won’t have school, so we can both be there. The local paper’s already featured them in the society section. Couple Finally Ties Knot After Thirty-Seven Years Together. Sons Serve As Witnesses. You should see them, Daniel. They’re like kids.”

Yes, he could just imagine. The stripper and the embezzler. Sounded like a farce from a burlesque show. Daniel frowned. How was it Jonah didn’t see the ridiculousness of the situation? Daniel loved his parents dearly, but really, what was the point in getting married now? Why hadn’t they committed to each other when it could have served some purpose? Like before their sons were born.

The Navy way #MFRWsteam

Naval Maneuvers by Dee S. KnightBlurb:
Men and women of the armed forces experience lust and love pretty much like everyone else. Except, well, there is that uniform. And the hard-to-resist attraction of “duty, honor, service” as a man might apply them to a woman’s pleasure. All things considered, romance among the military is a pretty sexy, compelling force for which you’d better be armed, whether weighing anchor and moving forward into desire, dropping anchor and staying put for passion, or setting a course for renewed love with anchor home. Explore the world of love and the military and see just how hot Naval Maneuvers can be.

Weighing Anchor (allowing a ship to move forward by retrieving the anchor): A professional woman sworn to avoiding all things military finds herself in love with a lieutenant commander in the Navy. Love won’t conquer all if she allows her childhood memories to eclipse future happiness.
Dropping Anchor (securing movement by dropping the anchor): Two people find (surprisingly) that they are both in the Navy and love their chosen professions—until one turns out to be an officer but not a gentleman and the other is a gentleman but not an officer.
Anchor Home (safe, smooth sailing): When two former lovers find each other after more than a decade, will a long-hidden secret threaten the course of a rekindled romance or be the cause of it?

MFRW SteamExcerpt from Weighing Anchor:
David swung open the door of their room after only one knock. He took her in with one quick glance and proclaimed her fucking beautiful. He’d been aching for this all afternoon.

Holding up a white bag he said, “As promised, I brought Italian. And I’m hungry. But not for baked ziti.” He dropped the bag on the room’s café table and opened his arms. Mel rushed to him. Molding her body to his and feeling her soften in his arms, taking her lips in a greedy kiss that she met with equal hunger—this is what he’d imagined and longed for. What he knew now he would always long for.

“You’re mine,” he ground out in a raspy voice. “Mine.

Flipping positions so that she backed the wall, he dropped to his knees and reached under her skirt—thank God she’d worn something other than slacks. “You naughty girl. You’ve gone all commando on me.” He nestled his nose to the apex of her thighs and inhaled, taking the scent of her arousal deep into his lungs. He nudged her legs apart and pushed her skirt to her waist and with one, long lick, he took in her taste. She was fucking delicious.

Mel’s moans faded to the background as he proceeded to mine her pussy with his tongue. He loved the way she kept herself clean shaven, knowing how much he enjoyed eating her out, something he intended to do several times before they separated on Sunday afternoon—something he hated the thought of doing. Feasting on Melissa had turned into one of his favorite things in the world. How could he do without?

By the time he’d switched from his tongue to two fingers lightly stroking her pussy while his tongue sought out and attended to her clit, Mel had stabbed her fingers into his hair and pressed his mouth closer. Her hips rocked against him. She was close. Her moans had changed to sweet little sounds between pants.

Once again, David used his tongue on her pussy and pressed her clit hard with his thumb. Mel screamed his name and her cream drenched his mouth and chin. He lapped at her, taking all she had to give before pressing his forehead into her stomach and catching his breath.

Finally, as shaky as she, he stood up and took her mouth. Their tongues battled for supremacy. Mel pushed into his mouth and he pushed back. “God, I missed you,” he said when they broke for breath.

She smiled and smoothed her hand over his hair. “It was only a few hours. But I missed you, too,” she said, and then kissed him once more. “I have to admit, after being apart you sure know how to welcome a girl.”

“That? That was nothing. I have hours of pleasure saved up to share with you.” He laid his forehead against hers. “Did you really miss me? Even with all the texts?”

Her arms were around his neck and she lazily stroked his neck. He loved when she touched him. Anywhere. “They only made me miss you more. I don’t know how people stand long distance relationships. If I’d had to go longer than these few hours, I would have died.” She took his mouth again, but this time, in addition to the passion, a tiny frisson of worry ran down his spine.

He pushed it away. It’s the kind of things lovers say—I couldn’t wait to be with you, or I couldn’t stand another minute away from you—but in the end, people put away that hyperbole and dealt with the realities of life. That is, people in love do. And he hoped Mel was in love with him because he sure as hell was in love with her.

“If you can wait a few more minutes to eat, we have the microwave to reheat dinner. I think I need some more Mel time,” he said with a grin. “Let’s get you off your feet.” Sweeping her into his arms, he took her into the bedroom.

“And what do you intend to do now that you have me off my feet?” she asked in an innocent voice.

“Have my wicked way with you,” he answered with a growl. “But first, naked. I need you naked.”

She smiled, exchanging innocence for sexy in a nanosecond. “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.”

He’d thought his cock couldn’t be any more needy but he’d been wrong. “You’re on,” he ground out.

Instead of hopping to get out of her clothes, though, she lay back and regarded him. “David, are you…are you clean? That is—”

His hand froze on his belt buckle. “Yes! Yes, I’m good, I swear.” Was she implying what he thought she was? “And I can assure you, I’m not the kind of guy who slept around much, but during those times I’ve never, ever been without a condom.” Maybe he should ask about her, but she was a doctor, right? Surely she wouldn’t take any risks.

“Then do you think…I mean I really care for you. A lot. And if you think you care for me, too, maybe we could forego the condoms? I’m on the pill.”

Stunned, David wondered the correct thing to do here. He’d never been in this situation before and he wanted to get it right. Instead of continuing to strip, he lay on the bed beside her. He stroked her lips with his finger and took in her scent, which was unique to her.

“Melissa, this is early on. I know we’ve hardly known each other a month, and we haven’t been together for the majority of that time, but I know myself pretty damn well and I’m not afraid to say the words.” She gasped and her eyes grew wide. “I love you, Mel. Nothing like you has ever happened to me. As impossible as it seems after so little time, I love you.”

She was silent, staring at him with wonder. It was wonder, wasn’t it, and not horror or disgust?

“David, I love you, too.”

Fucking yeah. He gave a metal fist pump. Taking her into his arms, he kissed her tenderly, hoping to convey through his lips the sentiments he’d just expressed in words. He loved her damn it, and she loved him back. The world was one hell of a happy place.

When she leaned back from him he said, “So, shall we see what this feels like, skin to skin? It’s something I’ve never felt before.”

“Me either.”

He wrapped a strand of hair around his finger, loving the way it looked, binding them together for the moment the way his next actions would bind them for forever. This act of sex would be an emotional tie as well as a physical one. She was his woman. His. And he was about to claim her. She would claim him, too, and strangely, a calm settled over David with that knowledge.

“Think it will be different?”

“I know it will be because it will be new to each of us, a sign of our love and trust. And when I come,” he whispered, “a part of me will stay inside you for days, you and me as one.” He kissed her. “We can’t get any closer.”

In less than a minute the two were naked. David looked into her eyes and saw desire and a depth of feeling he’d never known. Love filled his heart and he knew this is how he would feel forever.

This is the way it’s always going to be for us. That was David’s last cogent thought before sliding into the wet heat of her body.

* * *

Mel had never felt anything like it. She wrapped her legs around David’s waist and used them to pull him closer, further inside her. Her breath came in erratic pants, her fingers clawed at his back, urging him on.

But David wouldn’t be rushed. He seemed to have his own time table for bringing her off. He pushed in and then pulled out until his cock lingered at the entrance to her pussy. Slowly—ever so slowly—he glided back in. She trembled with desire and the love she knew she held for him. Mel had never been so happy.

“So fucking good, baby. God, you feel so fucking good.

“Yes,” she murmured and nipped his neck where his shoulder met it. Stroking that same place with her tongue as he started his slow but purposeful entry brought forth a guttural moan. She dug her hips into the mattress and then thrust forward to meet him.

“David, I love you!” She couldn’t hold back. This felt too damn good, too right. This was her man. Hers. And she wanted this for the rest of her life, this friction of his loving, his cock making her feel alive, his smile to wake to every morning, his hands sending shock waves of pleasure through her body.

“Melissa. Oh, God, Melissa!” David increased his speed, his thrusts becoming hard and fast. He took her mouth in a rage of passion. His tongue invaded and conquered, his lips ate at her mouth. Breaking off, he took her shoulder in an open-mouth kiss, nipping and sucking.

Mel was so close, so very close. Every deep thrust rubbed her clit until she thought she would scream. Instead, she gasped in a breath, sure she would let go, not wanting to so that this would go on and on. His thrusts rocketed her to a state of mindlessness and she gave up all thought, surrendering to pure feelings.

MFRW Book HooksExcerpt from Weighing Anchor:
“I don’t get here often, but I love Richmond.” Mel glanced at her watch. Her little fantasy of seeing him again was about to end. The rush of disappointment surprised her but no good could come of extending their time. He’d explained why he’d left as he had and she’d apologized for not giving him a chance to do so weeks ago. The man was like sex on a stick. He made her pussy clench and her nipples perk up for attention. If she stayed with him much longer, she’d fall back into bed with him, and she’d already experienced a turn on the wild side.

“It’s been fun seeing you again, David, but I have dinner reservations and have to get back to my hotel.”

The evening she’d originally looked forward to—dinner, a hot soak, reading and then settling into bed—alone—now held no appeal, but she’d meant it when she said she wasn’t available for a night’s sex just because they’d been thrown together again. They’d shared a very nice afternoon but now it was time to go back to her life and let him get back to his.

Nooo,” he said. “You aren’t going to make me dine alone, are you?”

“I’m afraid so.” As soon as the thought occurred to her she tried to swallow it down but the words slipped out anyway. “I’m sure there are any number of girls available to keep a mad scientist like you from eating dinner alone. You wouldn’t even have to look very hard to find one.” She hated the very idea of his spending the evening with another woman but she had no strings on him.

His victorious grin was immediate and he backed her up against the side of the building beside large glass doors leading into the lobby. “I think you just said I was sexy.” One arm braced above her head and the other still at her waist, his breath fanned her cheeks. “Is that what you were saying, Mel?”

She tried and failed to stop her heart from racing. His eyes were the color of the dark chocolate of the cake they’d just eaten, and so heated and intense, it scorched her wherever his gaze landed. Points south heated, too. Keeping her voice from showing how much she wanted him to kiss her took all of her effort. “I’m sure some women would think so.” She tapped his chest with her index finger. “But don’t be vain.”

He chuckled and leaned impossible closer, his mouth to her ear. All of her defenses crumbled. The scent of him invaded her mind. She wanted to drown in him, wanted to consume him and have him consume her. She shivered with sudden need.

“Didn’t we already talk about the difference between us and college kids? There’s only one woman in this city, no, in this whole fucking state that I want to find me sexy, and I’m standing with her right now.”

He moved his hand from her waist up and over her arm and shoulder to sweep it under her hair. His lips nuzzled the tender skin beneath her ear. “Do you, Melissa? Do you find me sexy?”

It was so much like a pick up scenario. Oh baby, I only want you to find me sexy. Do ya? So cheesy. So lame. So damn intoxicating. If they hadn’t been steps away from the museum crowds, she would have ripped off his shirt and slid her leg up over his hip.

Time to end this. “You are delusional.”

He leaned back and looked into her eyes. “Too fast? No matter. I meant what I said. I know what I want. And you’re it, Mel.”

“You mean tonight.”

He studied her eyes. His gaze dropped to her lips and back up. She started to squirm under his inspection. “I mean at least for tonight. I have the whole weekend.”

“If you don’t get called away for ‘work’ again.”

He brushed his thumb across her cheek. “Nothing is going to drag me away this weekend. How about you?”

“I came for the lectures and a weekend of relaxation.”

He smiled, showing his dimples, and her heart nearly stopped. “I know the best form of relaxation in the history of man.”

Sealing the deal #MFRWsteam

The Triple S Bride by Dee S. KnightThe Triple S Bride

Blurb:
Sabina Volt signs on to be a futuristic mail order bride in an effort to escape her abusive fiancé on Earth. And oh, yeah, the attempted murder charge he trumped up to bring her back from wherever she escaped. She flew off into the universe to marry rancher Walt Sheridan on C8282, but she is in for a surprise. She thinks she’s marrying Walt. Instead, she’s marrying the Sheridans: Walt and his two brothers, Charlie and Dan. C8282 holds all kinds of new dangers—versas and grenetts and more—but it also holds a whole lot a lovin’.

Barnes and Noble

MFRW SteamExcerpt:
Walt nearly lost control. He found Sabrina’s lips and kissed her with all the pent up longing of a man who’d been without sex far too long. In the eight years he and his brothers had lived on C8282, he mostly worked off sexual tension on the ranch.

His trips to Harken City proved unsatisfactory and now he knew why. Being with a whore in no way compared to having Sabina touch him, or ride his cock, even through their clothes. He’d wanted her with something akin to pain since she stepped off the shuttle and now—Lord have mercy, she was his. As soon as they sealed the contract by consummating the marriage, he could have her any time he wanted. In his mind’s eye he saw nights stretching out to eternity filled with wanting Sabina.

She moaned into his mouth and he took charge, slipping his tongue between her lips and past her teeth into the hot, wet recess of her mouth. His brain ran through all the reasons why they should wait. They didn’t know each other, didn’t know if things would work. She was vulnerable and alone in a strange place.

And then there was the small matter of her arrest warrant on Earth. Quickly, he rejected every objection. On C8282, folks lived life by different standards than on Earth. He had no proof, but he thought there was more to the attempted murder claim than had been portrayed on the Comm.

Right now he couldn’t concentrate on that. With her hot twat mere inches from his dick, he didn’t give a flying fuck about what some guy light years away said about his bride.

Yeah, oh God, yeah. He thrust his tongue and pulled out, thrust and pulled back, which seemed to please her. She rubbed his cock harder, sending shockwaves through his body. In moments he’d be mindless with need. He kneaded her firm, round ass through her jeans, then pushed up her bra and palmed her nipple, already beaded and hard. If he could press his finger against her clit and into her pussy, he knew he’d find her wet and ready. She was all woman. All for him. God, he wanted her.

“I thought you were dead,” she blurted.

Her hands roamed over him, alternately rubbing and caressing. Which pleased him more he couldn’t say, the almost innocent brushing of her fingers or the bold grip as she traveled up and down his length. His close call with the versa didn’t even rank in the top ten things on his mind.

“Versa,” he managed to say. “Dead.” God, her breast felt good. So heavy in his hand. He stroked her nipple with his thumb. She arched her back, pressing into him. More than anything he wanted to lose himself in her. He pushed her away far enough to pull her blouse over her head, still buttoned. “Get you out of those clothes,” he mumbled, seeing her breast at last. He cupped it, testing its weight, admiring its full roundness, softer than a grenett’s coat. She trembled at his touch and he about lost it.

“What’s a versa?”

Her fingers furrowed through his hair sending shivers down his back. He lifted her, fitting his mouth over her nipple and sucking. A fragrance struck his nostrils. Lilacs. She must have dabbed perfume in the deep dip between her breasts. For me? He liked the possibility.

The scent knocked him off kilter, throwing him into memories of Earth, where he’d grown up. Sweet God, making love to Sabina would be like—

He almost thought heaven on Earth, but long ago he’d left the notion of both places behind. A sense of rightness, of wholeness settled over him.

“What’s a versa?” she repeated.

“What?” Walt fought the haze of lust to focus on her question. “Oh. They roam wild here. Mostly at night.” He dropped kisses along her jawline. “Very dangerous. But don’t worry, I’ll keep you safe.”

“I believe you.”

She said the words softly, but her tone showed she meant it. A place deep inside warmed with something other than lust, other than want and need. C8282 was dangerous in a way Earth wasn’t. He knew that a stranger to the planet would need his care, expertise and experience, and he’d been prepared to provide it to Sabina as he would to any newcomer. This was far greater. His overwhelming desire to protect her surprised him.

He’d pulled the versa carcass to the side of the road, and others would be coming to investigate, following the scent of blood. Instead of fucking, he should be keeping watch and making sure Sabina stayed safe inside the truck.

Too bad about that. Making her truly his sealed his role, made her part of his family. He wanted that more than he imagined he would.

“Don’t worry,” he said, “nothing will hurt you.”

“I wasn’t worried.” She ran her thumb across his bottom lip. “Not now.”

He took her thumb inside his mouth and sucked, all the while fumbling to unzip her slacks.

Staring at his mouth she licked her lips. “Let me,” she said, eyes glazed. She slipped off his lap.

Walt heard a zipper and the rustle of clothes coming off while he ripped off his T-shirt and pushed his jeans to his knees. His cock pulsed, aching for relief.

Seconds later, Sabina straddled him again. Immediately she guided his throbbing cock to her pussy and sank onto it.

When she would have risen to her knees, Walt gripped her hips. It was keep her from moving or shooting off like an inexperienced kid with his first girl. Instead, he took a moment to appreciate what he held. Her blue eyes shone with desire. Back arched, her firm, round tits offered themselves to him and he took a sweet lick. Her body was perfect, absolutely perfect.

“It’s a little late, but are you sure? This binds us, you know. If you’ve changed your mind, I’ll put this moment aside.” He had to say it just in case, but he hoped like hell she wanted this as much as he did.

She didn’t speak with words. She rolled her hips over his, seating his cock and scraping her sex across his thatch of hair. Nothing she could have said would have made him any happier.

An Excerpt from Dare to Hope:

His grin was devastating up close – wide and welcoming, with a hint of naughtiness and the promise of shared pleasures. But it was his eyes, deep coffee brown and fringed with long dark lashes that were his best feature; piercing, intelligent and inquisitive eyes, trained on her.
Please, God, Eliana prayed quickly, do not let this man be the new sales manager. It would be lamentable if she had to keep him at arm’s length. He was the first man Eliana had felt drawn to since Nico. If she was honest with herself, he was the first man she had ever felt this attracted to so immediately. It was enough to make her believe in love at first sight or fate.
“Hi,” he stepped closer, ignoring the empty stool beside her to halt just inside her personal space. Usually, Eliana would have reflexively backed up, but she savored his closeness, the power emanating from his presence. Even in this stuffy bar, he smelled good – fresh, like soap and good whiskey. And up close, his eyes were more magical – a hint of gold dancing in their depths.
“Hi,” she responded on a breath, letting the single word hang there for a moment before adding “You aren’t in sales, are you?”
“Nope.” If he thought it was a strange conversation starter, he kept it to himself. “Engineering and design, although I have dabbled in sales. I could be in sales for you,” he offered in a voice smooth as brandy, redolent with sexual promise and a hint of curiosity. She laughed at his offer. “Are you in sales?”
“Yes, I am. I was thinking of what a crime it would be if you turned out to be my new boss. I’m meeting him tomorrow.”
“Jeremy,” he responded, extending his hand to shake hers. “Not in sales. Is your boss named Jeremy?”
“Thankfully, not.” Eliana extended her hand, savoring the moment as Jeremy wrapped his long fingers around hers. She noticed there was no wedding band as she admired the strength and length of his fingers, the fine hairs on the back of his hand, and his grip – warm and dry. His skin was soft over fine bone and healthy muscle. Everything about him captivated her. “Eliana.”
Jeremy seemed in no hurry to release her hand, but after several beats too long for politeness, Eliana pulled hers from his. “Is this seat taken?” he asked, already sitting down, not thinking twice about it. “Or perhaps that table against the wall? I am anxious to learn why you don’t know who you work with, Eliana.”
Eliana laughed and watched as Jeremy’s breath stopped. His every emotion was transparent, especially the desire flaming in his eyes right now. A passion she reciprocated. Wholeheartedly. She couldn’t remember such an instantaneous attraction. But with Jeremy, she felt electricity and lust move through her entire body, just from the touch of his hand and the sound of her name spoken in his rich baritone.
“Eliana,” he rolled the word around his mouth as if tasting a fine wine. “What a lovely name.” Eliana panties dampened. He was just saying words, but their underlying promise was undeniable. She wanted to be alone with him. She wanted to be naked with him. And all she knew was his first name.
Eliana nodded toward the table, questioning her sanity. She was sure about what this man wanted, but after only minutes, her body governed her head. Jeremy spoke briefly with the bartender, passed him a fifty like it was a single, and motioned for her to lead the way to the empty table. Before they had settled in their chairs, both had fresh drinks. Earlier, the bartender had responded to her beauty with decent service and half-hearted flirting, but he reacted with alacrity to the big tip.
“So, spill,” Jeremy directed, leaning forward on his elbows and putting his mouth dangerously close to hers. Just a few inches, Eliana imagined, and they could be kissing. “I am dying to hear your story. I want to know absolutely everything about you.” The way he lingered on the word ‘everything’ made Eliana wetter still. Oh man, she was in way over her head.
